Abstract

Keywords: idiomatic expressions, song, Taylor Swift. In social life that is very closely related to language, there are still many languages that are difficult to understand because sometimes not all languages have the meaning that suits them, many ways that someone uses to express feelings in their hearts, there are also literature as a solution for people who want to express their feelings well through poetry, A story, or a song. A song is a poem that is voiced in the form of poetry and has melody and tone, although idiomatic expressions are a group of words that cannot be predicted from one single word. In this study, the focus of the research is that the first is any kind of idiomatic expressions found in three Taylor Swift songs, and the second is what idiomatic expressions found in three Taylor Swift songs mean. The researcher uses the kind of library research by using descriptive qualitative approaches. The source used in this research is a song by Taylor Swift's singer to get data. While the other sources are journals, articles, books, and previous scripts that can be made refreshing to complete the main data you want to be detailed. Researchers use observation and documentation in collecting data. As for content analysis used in data analysis. Researchers analyze three songs by Taylor Swift titled "Shake it Of, Wildest Dreams, and This Love". While researchers use Roby Lou and Cooper's theories about the type and meaning of idiomatic expressions. Then result of this research, the researcher found 22 data that included the type and meaning of idiomatic expressions. First, what types of idiomatic expressions found in three Taylor Swift songs contain idiomatic expressions with verb and preposition 16 data, idiomatic expression in comparison 2 data, idiomatic expression with adjective phrase 2 data, idiomatic expressions with preposition 1 data, idiomatic expression with two words verb 1 data. Secondly, what the meaning of idiomatic expressions found in three Taylor Swift songs is, lexically and contextually. It can be concluded that from the title “An Analysis of English Idiomatic Expressions in Three Swift's Songs” is obtained 22 Data including type idiomatic expressions and the meaning
