Abstract
Keywords: language variation, Slang, Movie. Language is very important in our lives, because with the language we can connect with each other. Language can also be said as a means of communication, so that humans can live their lives. There are a lot of disciplines studies in language such as language variation in Sociolinguistic that explain about kinds variety of language for example is a Slang which is a type of language that is highly colloquial and current, and it lacks the stylistic heft of formal, and even polite casual, speech. It frequently uses metaphor and ellipsis, as well as verbal play in which new language is used in a variety of specific meanings and denotations, so in this research the researcher tries to find the existence of slang in movie namely the Spongebob movie: Sponge on the run by using a theory from Allan and Burridge. There are two research focuses in this study the first one is, what are the types of slang words used in the Spongebob movie: Sponge on the run, then there is what are the meanings of slang words in the Spongebob movie: Sponge on the run. The researcher uses a qualitative approach which is a descriptive as the type of the research. The researcher obtains the data from observation and documentation where the subject of the research is the Spongebob movie: Sponge on the run. Based on the result of study, the researcher found Slang words from the Spongebob movie there are twenty four which included into four types there are fresh and creative, flippant, imitative and the last is clipping
