Abstract
Keywords: Challenge, Opportunity, Bilingualism Learning two foreign languages at the same time has become increasingly important, as countries seek to bridge cultural boundaries and promote international cooperation and understanding. Bilingualism, or the ability to speak two languages, has been found to have numerous benefits, both personal and societal. However, the process of learning two foreign languages at the same time can be challenging, and requires a carefully planned and structured approach. Despite these challenges, however, the significance of bilingualism has grown considerably due to its necessity for international travel, media engagement, immigration, and the thriving global economy. Related to this, this research seeks to explore the challenges and opportunities of learning two foreign languages at the same time, with a particular focus on the perspectives of language learners and teachers at Bata-Bata Bilingual Center. This study aims to describe the challenges and the opportunities faced by students and teachers in teaching learning two foreign languages simultaneously, as well as to find out the strategies of doing it. This research is a qualitative study using a descriptive approach. The data collection process was carried out using observation, interviews, and documentation methods. Then the data was processed and tested for validity using source triangulation techniques. The data was then analyzed qualitatively through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the challenges are such as cognitive overload from managing multiple sets of vocabulary and grammar, varying proficiency levels among students leading to communication issues, limited practice time, and difficulty finding adequate teaching resources. While the opportunities are enhance cognitive functions,communication skills, and substantial career and educational benefits. Additionally the strategies are bilingual approach, vocabulary reinforcement, Active participation, The use of practical daily activity, The teacher's supportive role in translation and encouragement, memorizing vocabularies, and some practices.
