Abstract

Jumble paragraph game is one of the game that sharpens students’ ability to rearrange a random text before it. This game is used at tenth grade of SMA Plus miftahul-ulum larangan badung pamekasan. This game is applied because students find difficulty to determine the generic structure of narrative text and to increase student interest in learning that start to get bored with the teacher method commonly used by teacher and also to increase students’ interest in Reading english text. There are two problems of study in this research. The first, how the teacher use the jumble paragraph game in reading narrative text at tenth grade of SMA Plus miftahul-ulum larangan badung pamekasan. The second, What are the strengths and weaknessess of the use of jumble paragraph game in reading narrative text at tenth grade of SMA Plus miftahul-ulum larangan badung pamekasan. The researcher used descriptive qualitative. The subject of this study is students at Tenth Grade of SMA Plus Miftahul-Ulum Larangan Badung Pamekasan. Meanwhile, the data is collected from the observation, interview and documentation. and the researcher took ten students to be interviewed. In data analysis, the researcher used data reduction, data display, drawing conclusion and verification. While for checking the data validity, the researcher used triangulation of source. Based on the result of this research. The use of jumble paragraph game here run well. And the implementation steps used by the teacher are three steps. Namely pre-teaching, the teacher gives warming up first by showing the examples of narrative text and then divide students into groups. The second whilst-teaching, the teacher gives a paper that contain random narrative stories to be rearrange with a duration of 15 minutes and the last post-teaching, the teacher give conclusion and evaluation for students. And the strengths of this game such as the teacher more easy to manage the classroom and students become more active and the classroom situation more effective. But, the weaknessess are the minimum mastery of vocabulary can hinder the time of game and also the lack of interest to read english text make students get bored easily. based on the result of this research above, the researcher suggest for the teacher to use a good method to make students more enjoy the learning process and suggestion for further researchers to conduct research related to the Reading narrative text but with different aspects, game or different method and explain it clearly. Permainan jumble paragraph adalah salah permainan yang mengasah kemampuan siswa untuk menyusun ulang sebuah narrative text yang di acak sebelum nya. Permainan ini di gunakan pada kelas 10 di SMA plus miftahul-ulum larangan badung. permainan ini di terapkan karena siswa kesulitan untuk menentukan generic structure dari narrative text serta untuk meningkatkan minat belajar siswa yang mulai bosan dengan metode ceramah yang biasa di gunakan oleh guru dan juga untuk meningkatkan minat baca siswa dalam membaca teks berbahasa inggris Ada dua masalah penelitian dalam penelitian ini. Pertama, bagaimana guru menerapkan permainan jumble paragraph ini dalam mengajar teks reading narrative pada kelas 10 di SMA plus miftahul-ulum larangan badung. Kedua, Apa saja keunggulan serta kelemahan dalam menggunakan permainan jumble paragraph ini dalam mengajar teks reading narrative pada kelas 10 di SMA plus miftahul-ulum larangan badung. Peneliti menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 10 di SMA plus miftahul-ulum larangan badung. Sementara itu data dikumpulkan dari pengamatan lapangan, wawancara dan dokumentasi. dan peneliti mengambil sepuluh siswa untuk di wawancarai. Dalam analisis data, peneliti menggunakan kondensasi data, tampilan data, dan kesimpulan. Sedangkan untuk mengecek keabsahan data, peneliti menggunakan triangulasi sumber data. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, penggunaan permainan jumble paragraph tersebut berjalan dengan lancar. Serta langkah-langkah penerapan yang di gunakan guru ada tiga langkah. Yaitu sebelum mengajar, guru memberikan pemanasan terlebih dahulu dengan menunjukan contoh narrative text kemudian membentuk siswa kedalam group. Saat mengajar, guru memberikan kertas yang berisikan cerita narrative yang di acak untuk di susun kembali dengan durasi 15 menit dan di akhir pembelajaran, guru memberikan kesimpulan dan evaluasi terhadap siswa. Serta keunggulan-keunggulan yang ada di antaranya adalah guru lebih mudah mengatur suasana kelas serta siswa menjadi lebih aktif. Namun, kelemahan nya adalah penguasaan kosa kata yang minim menghambat waktu permainan serta kurang nya minat membaca membuat siswa merasa bosan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diatas, peneliti mengusulkan bagi guru untuk menggunakan metode yang bagus agar membuat siswa lebih menikmati proses pembelajaran serta saran untuk peneliti-peneliti selanjutnya untuk melakukan penelitian yang berkaitan dengan teks Reading narrative namun dengan aspek yang berbeda, game atau metode yang berbeda serta jelaskan secara detail.
