Abstract

Keywords: Translation Shift, Noun Phrase, Accuracion, Movie. Each country has a different language, so everyone has difficulty communicating. English is used as both an international and a unifying language. The importance of this language to be learned for each country is supported by the existence of language translation in everyday life. English and Indonesian have different structures, especially in noun phrases that need to be considered in the translation process. So, the difference causes a shift in translation. Based on the facts above, there are 2 problems that are discussed in this research, namely: (1) What are the types of noun phrase translation shift in the Monster Inc. movie 2001? And (2) How are the translation accuracies of noun phrase translation shift in the Monster Inc. movie 2001? This research is library research with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used by the researcher are observation and documentation techniques. The researcher obtained data sources from the Monster Inc. movie 2001 as primary data and secondary data, such as several books, journals, articles, and the internet. The results of this study indicate that: First, in the types of translation shifts in the Monster Inc. movie 2001, the researcher found 297 translation shift data, which indicates all types of shifts consisting of four types at the category level, namely 90 structure shifts, 16 class shifts, 54 unit shifts, and 137 intra-system shifts. Second, the translation accuracy of the noun phrase translation shift, the researcher found three types of translation accuracy of the noun phrase translation shift, namely accurate translation of 178 data, less accurate translation of 112 data, and inaccurate translation of 7 data. The use of various types of noun phrase translation shift in this movie still produces translations that are dominated by accurate translations, followed by less accurate translations, and with very few inaccurate translations.
