Abstract
Key words: Scaffolding Strategies, Reading Skill Reading is one way of the most important things in teaching learning process, it can increase the student knowledge. Reading is one of English basic skills that make students know all the information and understand it. There are many ways that can be implemented in teaching learning process to make the class active, fun and easy to understand about the material, especially in teaching reading skill. In this research the teacher implementation of scaffolding strategies in teaching reading skill. Scaffolding strategies is one of strategy to make the students easy to understand the meaning of the text so that the student can read well and solve their problem independently. There are two research focuses in this study: the first is, how the teacher implements scaffolding strategies in teaching reading class of 6th grade SDI Mambaul Ulum Sampang. The second is how the role of teacher in implementing scaffolding strategies in reading class of 6th grade SDI Mambaul Ulum Sampang is. In this research, the researcher uses qualitative approach by using descriptive research. Because it describes how the teacher implement scaffolding strategies in teaching reading skill to get the data the researcher uses observation, interview and documentation. The researcher analyze with collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. In addition, to get the validity of data the researcher uses triangulation of data source. The result of this research found there were three stages in implementing of scaffolding strategies in teaching reading skill and some strategies in teaching reading. They are pre- reading, during reading activities and post reading. It can make student easy to understand the text that they read because the English teacher explain it step by step. It provides when the teacher implementation scaffolding strategies in the class. There are four scaffolding strategy that implement in the class, first is visual aids, second is tap into prior knowledge, third is pre teaching vocabulary, fourth is explanation. Based on the results of observations and interviews, applying scaffolding strategies makes students more active and interested in the learning process, So that the class becomes fun. Beside that scaffolding strategies can make it easier for students to understand learning and can think critically. As we know role of teacher is very important, as a parents, who always reminds and explain to their child of what is good and bad for his child, here the teacher will take that role. as a facilitator that make easy the student get any information to achieve learning objectives, as the motivator in increase the student interest in reading class and as a friend, make it easier for students to ask questions and convey what they feel during the learning process.
