Abstract

Keywords: Collaborative Strategy Reading (CSR), reading comprehension Reading comprehension is the ability to analyze, understand and give the response in detail of the text. Teacher must be able to make students interest in reading by implement Collaborative Strategy Reading or better known as CSR. CSR is a cooperative strategy that can improve students reading comprehension by dividing students into small groups. The focus in this research are the first is how the implementation of CSR and the second is what are the supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing CSR in teaching students reading comprehension at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Kadur. The objective of this research are the first is to know the implementation of CSR and to know the supporting and inhibiting factors the implementation of CSR in teaching students reading comprehension at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Kadur. The researcher use qualitative research as the approach of research and field research as kind of research. Sources of data are English teacher for seventh grade at SMP Negeri 1 Kadur as primary data and supports primary data as secondary data. In collect the data, the researcher use interview, observation, and documentation. The researcher analyze with reduction, display, and drawing conclusion. In addition, to get the validity of data the researcher uses method triangulation. The result of the research states that for the implementation, in the first and second meeting, the teacher implement the CSR by the same way. Firstly, the teacher start the lesson first and continue to implements CSR by dividing the students into several group and asking the students to work together to comprehend the text. The teacher gives the example of how to pronuncing the words and tell the meaning of the words. Then the teacher repeat for several times to make the students easy to comprehend the text. The supporting factors are the teacher and the students, but for the inhibiting factors are teacher difficult in managed students, students not confident, low motivation, and lack of vocabulary. Consequently, the conclusion is in general the implementation of CSR carried out by teacher is appropriate and good in teaching reading comprehension to seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Kadur because all of strategies have been carried out, only a small part is missing and there are several factors that teacher do not face in implementing CSR.
