Abstract

Keywords: The Use, Teaching Listening, Dictogloss technique Listening is one of skill that is in English learning. Teaching listening is maintained that listening is not passive skill. But, an active process of constructing meaning from a stream of sound.Dictogloss is traditional dictation that can be used to teach listening, in this technique there are four steps: preparation, listening procedure, reconstruction, analysis and correction. From the steps will make students increase their listening. There are three problem statements in this study. The first one is to describe the use ofdictogloss technique to teach listening at the 2019/2020 eighth graders of MTs Negeri 1 Pamekasan. The second is to know and describe the advantages of using dictogloss technique to teach listening at the 2019/2020 eighth graders of MTs Negeri 1 Pamekasan.The third is to know the difficulties in using dictogloss technique to teach listening at the 2019/2020 eighth graders of MTs Negeri 1 Pamekasan. In this research, the researcher used qualitative approach because this research focused mainly on the analysis of the use of Dictoglossteachnique to teach listening. The source of the data obtained through the interview, the observation and documentation.The object of this research is the English teacherof Eighth Graders, and also A and B class students at the eighth graders of MTs Negeri 1 Pamekasan. The result, the researcher found that the dictogloss technique that used by the teacher in the classroom is run well, the teacher used dictogloss technque to teach listening with four stages, they are preperation, listening procedure, reconstruction, and the las analysis and correction. The advantages of are, the first students feel easy and interesting in study english especially in listening, the second students feel understand more to listen the teacher dictation than using native speaker, the third they can also get knowledge from the correction and discussion that they are doing in reconstruction or discussion in the last stage of dictogloss.The difficulties for the teacher, the first is difficult to make the condition of class room still calm and conducive, and make the students concentrate in listening procedure, the second is the teacher feel difficult to make all of students participate in cooperative work. While the students difficulties, they have problem with sound, and also they need to understand every single word in the text.
