Abstract

ABSTRACT Adinda Dewi Quroisyin, 2020, The Use of Multiple Versions of English Test in Evaluating the Students’ English Achievement at Fifth Semester of English Department in IAIN Madura Academic Year 2019/2020, Undergraduate, Thesis, English Teaching Learning Program (TBI), Tarbiyah Faculty, The State Islamic Institute of Madura. Advisor: Mulyadi, S.S, M. Pd. Key Words: Multiple versions of English test, Students’ English achievement The test is an assessment tool to determine the level of knowledge possessed by students. Typically, tests are carried out by giving assignments that must be done and completed by students. The results of this test can be used to determine whether the learning process carried out by the teacher can be well received or not by students, in this context English students. In addition, English student learning outcomes can be measured more accurately by using several versions of English tests in one exam. The use of several test versions will reduce the risk of students sharing answers so that the test results will be more accurate. The purpose of this study is to find out how the teacher uses multiple versions of English test in evaluating the students’ English achievement at fifth semester of the English department in IAIN Madura, and to find out how the students’ English achievement at fifth semester of English department by the use of multiple versions of English test. This research is prepared using a qualitative approach, with a descriptive method. In this study there are scope and limitation, the scope of this study is the use of multiple versions of English and the limitation is the fifth semester students of English Department in IAIN Madura academic year 2019/2020. The results of this study indicate that the teacher uses several versions of the test by making four different versions of the questions, where each version of the question contains seven questions that represent seven learning topics. One question in one version is different from a question in another version even though the topic of learning is the same. This makes students more motivated to learn, prevents students from discussing with each other during the exam, more focused and efficient in using time, and gets test results that better represent the abilities students have. Based on the results of the study, it was addressed to the teacher that multiple versions of English test could be used in the test for more accurate exam results or more represented by the abilities of each student, so that the initial purpose of holding the test is to find out the level of student ability can be fulfilled.
