Abstract

Key words: Linguistic intelligence, Speaking skill Every people have the various intelligence which named by multiple intelligence. One of the ability which might have by the students in using words effectively whether spoken or in written form is linguistic intelligence. When the students use this intelligence, they are supposed to mastering any skills of foreign language, one of them is speaking skill. the aims of this research is to know the correlation between linguistic intelligence and student`s speaking kill at third semester English Department of IAIN Madura. This research used quantitative method with the correlational research design of study. The population of this research was the third semester students of English Department of IAIN Madura. There are 46 students as the sample of this research. The instruments that used to collecting the data were linguistic intelligence questionnaire and documentation that taken from speaking score of final test. The data which was collected and calculated by using Pearson product moment correlation that the researcher use SPSS in analyzing the data, and to know the significant correlation between the two variables. Based on the data analysis it known that the result of rxy was 0,113 which indicate in very low level significant. The value of rxy was smaller than rtable in significance 5% in which 0,113< 0,297. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is rejected and null hypothesis (No) is accepted. So that, it can be conclude that there is no significant correlation between linguistic intelligence and student`s speaking skill at third semester English Department of IAIN Madura.
