Abstract
Key Words :Fairytale, English Song, Vocabulary. Education is effort which plan to create atmosphere of study and learning process to make the students more active to develop their potential.Vocabulary is a very important component in understanding English content. By learning vocabulary it will make a students understand the fourth basic skill in English, namely reading, listening, speaking and writing. vocabulary it can be started from memorizing vocabulary as many as possible and it is not difficult for student considering technology that is more and more sophisticated which can be media for the students to memorize vocabulary as like mobile phone that majority of students have, but sometime students are lazy to do it by many reasons, that’s why the teacher should provide a strategy to overcome the problem which can make students enjoy in memorizing vocabulary. . Vocabulary is essential for succesfull second language use because without an extensive vocabulary we will be unable to uses the structure and function we may have learn for comprehensible communication. The researcher formulates the problems of study are 1). Do students taught English vocabulary using fairytale have better vocabulary than using English song at SMA Maarif 1 Pamekasan and 2). How significant the difference between fairytale and English song for vocabulary mastery students at the Teenth grade of SMA Maarif 1 Pamekasan. The researcher focus on the the measuring the fairytale and English song at the Teenth grade at SMA Maarif1 Pamekasan. Therefore, researcher uses quasi experimental design. Quantitative research uses objective measurement to gather numeric data are used to answer questions or test determined hyphothesis. The researcher will conduct quasi experimental design. Quasi experimental design is an experinmental situation in which the researcher assign, but not randomly, participants to groups because the experimenter cannot artificially create groups for the experiments. The result of data analysis shows that t-value is lower than ttable. The value is 0,240, while t-table is 0,456 (level of significance 5% df=17); (0,240 < 0,456). By looking at the difference, it shows that the students who used fairy tale have no better English vocabulary than the students who used English songsat SMA Maarif 1 Pamekasan.
