Abstract

Keywords : Student Response, English Native Speaker, Teaching Method Currently, having good speaking ability is considered as a priority for language learners. That is why setting several methods by teacher is important. Learning foreign language is different with learning first language, so the material and method which exist must be appropriate to support the increasing of students’ speaking ability. Every different teacher and method that are available in the classroom will make the students have response whether they like them or not. Therefore the researcher is interesting to conduct a research on the responses of students towards English native speaker teaching technique at online intermediate speaking class of Titik Nol English Corse. The mainly purpose of this research is to increase the knowledge. In other sides the researcher wants to know the method which English native speaker used and the students response toward English native speaker teaching method. This research is qualitative descriptive. The data are taken from interview with English native speaker and the students. It is also obtained from online observation. In checking the authenticity of the data, triangulation method is used in this study. Based on the observation and interviews conducted in this research, English native speaker used Direct Method to teach online intermediate speaking class since he practiced English speaking directly with students, then gave some corrections about the errors. The responses style made by students are obedient student response style, dependent student response style, independent student response style, pretentious student response style and stolid student response style since one students make more than one response style and all of students feel happy to be taught by English native speaker. From the results of analysis which has been done by researcher at Online intermediate speaking class, it is clear that the method used by English native speaker is direct method and that method is very appropriate since all of the students become active in the class.
