Abstract

ABSTRACT Azizah, Nur. 2020. The Student Pronunciation Error Analysis on Pronouncing English Book Entitle “Active English 6” at Sixth Grade of MI Nurul Hikmah Lenteng Proppo Pamekasan. Thesis. English Teaching and Learning Program, Advisor: Nina Khayatul Virdyna, M. Pd Keywords: The student, Pronunciation error, English book Pronunciation is very important. People need to pronounce the word correctly. If students have good pronunciation, they will be understood easily by their intercolutor although they make an error in their speaking when they reading English book. This research has three objectives are (1) To know about the pronunciation error made by the students on pronouncing English book at sixth grade of MI Nurul Hikmah Proppo Pameksan. (2) To know about the factors caused of pronunciation error on pronouncing English book at sixth grade of MI Nurul Hikmah Proppo Pamekasan. 3)To explain the teacher‟s solve of pronunciation error by the students on pronouncing English book at sixth grade of MI Nurul Hikmah Proppo Pamekasan. This study is descriptive qualitative. The main research instrument is researcher herself. The subject of this study is Sixth Grade of MI.Nurul Hikmah Lenteng Proppo Pamekasan. The data were collected from teaching learning process on class of English subject. Techniques of analyzing data are (1) Observing the subject of the research. (2) Collecting the data, the researcher transcribed what the subject read on English book in the classroom, identify the mispronunciation of words are spoken by the subject, changed the word into phonetic symbol, looked for the difference of pronunciation using A Pronouncing Dictionary of American English. (3) Identifying the distinction phonetic depends on the kinds of Pronunciation Error by S, P Corder. (4) Reducing the data which has been selected based on kinds of pronunciation error by S, P Corder. The researcher uses content analysis which focuses on analyzing kinds of pronunciation error, the factors caused of pronunciation error and the solve of pronunciation error on students at sixth grade of MI.Nurul Hikmah Lenteng Proppo Pamekasan. This research finds 4 kinds of pronunciation error by the subject who reading English book in the class of English subject. Those are, (1) Omission occurs when some elements is omitted that should be present; When the subject pronounced the word “bags” then [s]sound in the word bags is omitted 2) Addition occurs when some elements is present that should not be there; When the subject pronounced the word “sugar” then [r] sound in the word sugar is added (3) Selection occurs when the wrong item has been choosen in place of the right one; When the subject pronounced the word “thin [δin] then [δ] is pronounced as [t] (4) Ordering occurs where elements presented are correct but these are wrong in sequence; When the subject is pronounced the word „ask‟ [a:sk] is pronounced as [a:ks].
