Abstract

Keywords : Tongue Twister, Pronunciation The research objective in this research is to know the whether the students by tongue twister game on teaching pronunciation. The resesearcher formulates the problems of study are 1) Is of the any effect of using tongue twister game toward students pronunciation of the Eight grade students at SMP Negeri 01 Galis Pamekasan? and 2) How is significance effect of tongue twister game on teaching pronunciation at Eighth grade students of SMP Neger 01 Galis Pamekasan? This study uses quantitative research using objective measurements to collect numerical data that is used to answer questions or test the specified hypothesis. The design of this study used a quasi-experimental research. The population in this study were eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 01 Galis Pamekasan. The researcher used the nonequivalent control group technique as the sample technique and selected 24 students of class VIII A as the experimental class and 24 students of class VIII C as the control class. The research instrument used a pre-test and post-test. T test is used to analyze the data collected in this study, used to determine the level of significance of the results of the t-test. The data from the pre-test results have an average difference for the experimental class 58.54 while for the control class it is 58.125. Meanwhile, the post-test average value in the experimental class was 80.41 and for the control class was 64.79. Meanwhile, the average post-test score for the experimental class was 80.41 while for the control class it was 64.79. In addition, the calculation of the significance test (t-test) obtained level (ɑ) = 0.05, so the value of tcount > ttable (2.391 > 2.07,), meaning that there is a significant influence in the tongue twister game on pronunciation learning. It is suggested to English teachers to apply Tongue twister game in teaching pronunciation, because tongue twister can help the students to find out how to say English words.
