Abstract
Keywords: Metacognitive Strategy;Learning Reading Comprehension In reading English text, of course there are several sentences or words that are not understood. Students will carry out activities or strategies that will make it easier to understand reading text, in solving problems students use metacognitive strategies in reading comprehension. The metacognitive startegies carried out by these students are certainly different. In this study, there are two research focuses. First, how does the students use metacognitive strategies in learning reading comprehension at third semester of TBI IAIN Madura. Second, what metcognitive levels are used by students in reading comprehension. This study aims to describe how students apply matacognitive startegies in learning reading comprehension. The researcher used qualitative approach with descriptive as kind of research.The reseacher collected data from observation and documentation. To analyze the data, the researcher used data condensation, data display,and verification. Then the researcher used triangulation technique for checking a credibility of data. The result of this study are, students use metacognitive strategies with four stsp. The steps of students to do metacognitive strategies in learning reading comprehension are understanding the problem, thinking of plan, carry out the plan, looking back, but few students evaluate their reading. The students do metacognitive strategies with several levels are awarness use, strategic use and reflective use. Here tacit level is not used
