Abstract
Keywords: Teaching Media, Youtube, Writing, Descriptive Text Youtube is one of audio-visual media which can be used by teacher in teaching learning process. One of schools applying this kind of media is SMAN 1 Galis, where the English teacher teaches the students at 10th grade about writing descriptive. There are 3 research focuses in this study. First, how does the teacher use youtube in writing descriptive text at the 10th graders of SMAN 1 Galis? Second, what are the students’ responses by using youtube in writing descriptive text at the 10th graders of SMAN 1 Galis? Third, what are the advantages of using youtube in writing descriptive text at the 10th graders of SMAN 1 Galis? The researcher used qualitative research. Observation, interview, and documentation are used to collect the data. In analysing data, the researcher used data reduction, displaying data, and conclusion/ verification images. To check the data validity, the researcher used triangulation of technique since the researcher used observation, interview, and documentation. The result shows that in writing descriptive text at 10th graders of SMAN 1 Galis, the teacher asked the students to bring laptop or smartphone, prepared suitable video for them, made sure that they get ready, checked the tools they brought to the classroom, asked the students not to be noisy, and gave them assignment. Dealing with the use of youtube, the students give some responses as like feeling happy and interested, knowing visualization of an object described on the video, enjoying the class. Furthermore, they do not feel bored. The use of youtube can give them advantages as like getting vocabulary, being able to wider descriptive text that they make, learning how to arrange sentences in one paragraph, as well as paying attention during teaching learning process
