Abstract
Keywords : Character Education, Caring Character, Movie, Independence Curriculum, Indonesia. Character education is a growing discipline in recent times with the intent of optimizing student’s ethical behaviour. Character education is also an effort to strengthen and improve the nation's moral or ethical values, especially students who will become the nation's next generation and spearhead the success of a nation with honorable character. Caring character as one of the core in the implementation of character education is an attitude or action that always wants to provide assistance to other people and communities in need. Researchers use movie as a media to convey the character educational value especially caring characters to students. There are two research focus in this research, first is What are the key themes and messages related to caring character educational value that are present in the Moana movie, second is How can these theme be integrated into the implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka in Indonesia. Researchers used library research in this research while the research method was descriptive qualitative. In this case, the researcher is a research tool, who not only collects data from information, but also analyzes and concludes it. As a research tool, the researcher must collect data, especially caring characters in the character educational values found in the Moana movie, so the researcher as a data collector. From the results of research conducted by researchers on the film Moana, researchers found that there are 6 caring characters out of 18 character education values, namely (1) National Spirit, (2) Love The Motherland, (3) Friendly/Communicative, (4) Love Peach, (5) Care For The Environment, (6) Social Care. The most dominant of caring character in Moana movie is social care. Meanwhile the character education values contained in the film Moana, especially the caring character, can be implemented into the independent curriculum in Indonesia, as is the case in listening learning in English language learning where teachers can use films to serve as media in listening learning.
