Abstract
Keywords: Perception, English podcast, listening comprehension. Every final student has many assignments that must be completed in order to graduate on time. Like writing a thesis. In the process of completing this assignment, of course students have several challenges that must be faced. In this research, there are several types of challenges that usually occur in the process of writing a thesis. Apart from that, there are also several ways to face various challenges in writing a thesis. This research only focuses on one research focus, namely, what are students' perceptions about the use of English podcasts for listening comprehension in twelfth grade students at MA Miftahul Ulum Kebun Wangi Bluuran Karangpenang Sampang. This research focuses on finding positive and negative perceptions of students towards the use of English podcasts for listening comprehension. This research was qualitative research, the instruments used are observation, interviews, and documentation. Checking the validity of the data is carried out through triangulation. Researchers used source triangulation because it requires researchers to compare data results from observations, interviews and documentation, so that researchers can obtain the information and data needed for this research. Based on the results of this research, it show that students have several perceptions regarding the use of English podcasts for listening comprehension. These perceptions are divided into two types, namely positive perceptions and negative perceptions. There were several positive perceptions that arise among students after using English language officers, including making them happy and enjoyable, making it easy to understand in listening comprehension, easy to use, being able to practice listening to English, and making the teaching and learning process more varied. Apart from that, there are also negative perceptions, including that it makes you bored if you don't like English lessons, it's difficult to understand, and it requires a good internet connection and a quiet place. The implication of this research is that teachers can find out about students' perceptions of the use of English podcasts for listening comprehension, so that teachers and students can determine what media is good to use in the teaching and learning process, especially English lessons.
