Abstract

Key Words: Analysis, Semiotic, Violent Semiotic analysis is a science or analytical method for studying signs. It cannot be denied that humans live and communicate using many signs, for example films. Film is a type of mass media that is a channel for various concepts and has an impact from its broadcast. When someone watches a film, the message conveyed by the film plays a role in forming a person's perception of the meaning of the message in the film. Thus, the focus of this research are: 1) to know the semiotic analysis of the violent elements contained in the film of Up, 2) to know the elements of violent in the film of Up The research methodologies of this research are: 1) The research design of this study is library research, research by descriptive qualitative approach. 2) The research instruments of this research are observation and documentation. 4) The validities of data are triangulation of theory. The problem in this research is the element of violence contained in the animated film “Up”. Data collection techniques, the author uses methods that are relevant to semiotic analysis methods. Namely, text data is text in which there are symbols that have been deliberately chosen, where the selection, arrangement and delivery are not free from a particular purpose, because it will give rise to a particular meaning. And observation is direct observation of the animated film Up in the context of the elements of violence contained in the content of the animated film Up, as well as documentation by collecting written data from archives or documents regarding opinions and theories related to the problems in this research. The results of this research show that in the animated film Up there are elements of violence including: physical violence, such as fighting, beatings, torture, use of firearms and psychological violence including harsh words, attempts to make people afraid, threats and destroying motivation and disrespectful actions, towards other people in the animated film Up. Whether an action is good or bad, there will definitely be consequences.
