Abstract
Keywords : Think-Pair-Share Strategy, Reading Comprehension, Narrative text Teaching is the process of interaction of teachers or learning resources in a learning environment with the learners. The way a teacher conveys learning, ideas and materials can affect how students can understand what is conveyed in the learning process. Teachers should make sure that they can deliver the material well, guide the students to reach it, and manage the classroom as good as possible. So it is important for a teacher to be able to choose and use a good and suitable strategy in the process of delivering material in the learning process so that students will easily understand the material presented. The research investigated the effect of implementing the Think-Pair-Share strategy to enhance students' reading comprehension specifically focusing on narrative text. In this research, researcher has two focuses in the study. First, Is there any effect of the use of Think-Pair-Share to students’ reading comprehension on narrative text at SMAN 5 Pamekasan?. Second, How significant is the improvement of reading comprehension skills in students after receiving treatment?. This research employs a quantitative method, specifically pre- experiment research and one group pre-test post-test design. The research instruments consist of tests and documentation methods. With a sample size of 17 students, the study aims to gather data and analyse the effects of certain variables. Through the administration of pre-tests and post-tests, alongside documentation analysis, the research seeks to draw conclusions regarding the impact of the experimental conditions on the participants. From the results of the research conducted by researcher, it was found that there was a significant increase from the application of learning strategies using Think-Pair-Share, with an increase in the average score in the pre-test of 51 to 80 in the post-test. As well as the T test which shows that -t value < -t table (-7.387 < -2.120), where it is known in the t test using the SPSS application which shows a sig-two tailed number of 0.001 where this figure is smaller than the sig-two tailed number 0.05.Therefore, the alternative hypothesis is accepted and the null hypothesis is rejected.
