Abstract

Some students of Base of English Solution Sampang cannot pronounce the word correctly. They think that diphthong pronunciation not important of speaking. They can speak english fluently, but when they get diphthong pronunciation materials, they fell difficult to speak English correctly, make their speaking not fluently and speak repeatedely. The students Base of English Solution Sampang are very carefully to speak using diphthong pronunciation and they have to adapt it. such they say word “like” they always pronounce such the word ”leg” then they correct themselves such the word “laɪk”. So that, tutors have important roles in the situation. There are two research focuses in this research. The first is the role of tutors in teaching diphthong at Base of English Solution course Sampang. The second is how the tutors role in teaching diphthong at Base of English Solution course Sampang. This research is to identify the role of tutors in teaching diphthong at Base of English Solution course Sampang. And to investigate the way the tutors role in teaching diphthong at Base of English Solution course Sampang. The researcher chooses to use qualitative descriptive as the method of research. The researcher collect the data by using, interview, observation, and documentation. The research result shows that tutors have some roles such as tutors as manager, motivator, organizer, informer and evaluator. And the way the tutors role is the First, tutors as manager, tutors manage the class before starting to teach. Second, tutors as motivator, tutors motivates the students to make the students spirit to join the class. Third, tutors as organizer, tutors organize everything that will be done in teaching learning process in order to make the teaching learning process run well. Fourth, tutors as informer, where the tutors give information and explanation abaout the materials that will be discuss. And the last, tutors as evaluator, tutors give evaluation after the materials have done, give task to students to cellect the data about the students succes or not in teaching learning process. So, it can be concluded that tutors have important role in teaching learning process. Sebagian siswa Base of English Solution Sampang tidak bisa melafalkan kata dengan benar. Mereka berfikir bahwa diftong tidak penting dalam berbicara. Mereka bisa berbicara bahasa Inggris dengan lancar tetapi ketika mendapatkan materi diftong, mereka merasa kesulitan berbicara bahasa Inggris dengan benar, membuat berbicaranya mereka tidak lancar dan berulang-ulang. Siswa Base of English Solution Sampang sangat berhati-hati untuk berbicara dalam menggunakan diftong dan mereka harus beradaptasi dengan hal itu. Seperti halnya mereka mengucapkan kata “like” mereka selalu melafalkan kata “leg” kemudian mereka membenarkannya dengan kata “laɪk”. Sehingga tutor memiliki peran penting dalam situasi itu. Ada dua fokus penelitian dalam penelitian ini. Yang pertama adalah apa peran tutor dalam mengajar pengucapan diftong di Base of English Solution Course Sampang. Yang kedua adalah bagaimana peran tutors dalam mengajar pengucapan diftong di Base of English Solution Course Sampang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran tutor dalam mengajar pengucapan diftong di Base of English Solution Course Sampang dan untuk mengetahuai bagaimana cara tutor berperan dalam mengajar pengucapan diftong di Base of English Solution Course Sampang. Peneliti memilih untuk menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif sebagai metode penelitian. Peneliti mengumpulkan data dengan menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tutor memiliki beberapa peran diantaranya adalah tutor sebagai pengelola, motivator, mengatur, pelapor dan penilai. Dan cara tutor berperan yaitu pertama, tutor sebagai pengelola, tutor mengelola kelas dengan baik sebelum memulai untuk mengajar. Kedua, tutor sebagai motivator, tutor memotivasi siswanya untuk membuat siswanya semangat untuk mengikuti pelajaran. Ketiga, tutor sebagai mengatur, tutor mengatur segalanya yang akan dilakukan dalam proses belajar mengajar untuk membuat proses pembelajaran berjalan dengan baik. Keempat, tutor sebagai pelapor, dimana tutor memberikan informasi dan penjelasan tentang materi yang akan didiskusikan. Dan yang terakhir, tutor sebagai penilai, tutor memberikan evaluasi setelah materi pembelajaran selesai yaitu memberikan tugas untuk mengumpulkan data tentang siswanya sukses atau tidak dalam proses pembelajaran. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa tutor memiliki peran penting dalam proses belajar mengajar.
