Abstract

In teaching learning process error is something natural that done by students, case study in syntax class, the lecturer gives assignment to make paragraph in syntax subject, and in their assignment, they make error when using english morphological inflection, even though inflectional morpheme is one of the basic material in morphology, but they still wrong in using inflection, so the researcher want to analize the error of english morphological inflection in fifth semester. The case study in English department in IAIN Madura academic year 2019/2020, because based on the researcher’s experience in the fourth semester there are still many student who wrong using english morphological inflection, like how to add suffix in verb, noun and adjective, but the researcher takes in fifth semester exactly in syntax subject because language can analysis with two properties, morphological analysis and syntactic analysis. The method is descriptive qualitative. Object of this research is students of fifth semester of English department in IAIN Madura academic year 2019/2020. The instrument is documentation and observation, the researcher gets the data from lecturer of syntax subject, from the data the researcher can observe and from the data the researcher can attach as proof that the data is valid. According to the result, the researcher found two types of error, even thougt there are many types error, but students just make two types of error, omission and the last error is simple addition error, majority the students make omission error, they always do not add an important item that must be appeared in the sentence, and sometimes they add the item that must not be appeared in the sentence. Dalam proses belajar mengajar kesalahan adalah sesuatu yang alami yang dilakukan oleh siswa, studi kasus di kelas sintaksis, dosen memberikan tugas untuk membuat paragraf dalam subjek sintaksis, dan dalam tugas mereka, mereka membuat kesalahan ketika menggunakan infleksi morfologi di bahasa Inggris, meskipun morfem infleksional merupakan salah satu dari bahan dasar dalam morfologi, tetapi mereka masih salah dalam menggunakan infleksi, sehingga peneliti ingin menganalisis kesalahan infleksi morfologi bahasa Inggris di semester kelima. Studi kasus di jurusan bahasa Inggris di IAIN Madura tahun akademik 2019/2020, karena berdasarkan pengalaman peneliti di semester keempat masih banyak siswa yang salah menggunakan infleksi morfologi bahasa Inggris, seperti bagaimana menambahkan akhiran dalam kata kerja, kata benda dan kata sifat, tetapi peneliti mengambil semester kelima tepatnya dalam subjek sintaksis karena bahasa dapat dianalisis dengan dua sifat, analisis morfologis dan analisis sintaksis. Metode ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Objek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester lima jurusan Bahasa Inggris di IAIN Madura tahun akademik 2019/2020. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah dokumentasi dan observasi, peneliti mendapatkan data dari dosen sintaks subjek, dari data yang peneliti dapat amati dan dari data yang peneliti dapat lampirkan sebagai bukti bahwa data tersebut valid. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, peneliti menemukan dua jenis kesalahan, walaupun ada banyak jenis kesalahan, tetapi siswa hanya membuat dua jenis kesalahan, omisson dan kesalahan terakhir adalah kesalahan simple adsition, mayoritas siswa membuat kesalahan kesalahan, mereka selalu melakukan kesalahan tidak menambahkan item penting yang harus ditampilkan dalam kalimat, dan terkadang mereka menambahkan item yang tidak boleh muncul dalam kalimat.
