Abstract

Keywords: Words Wall Media, Vocabulary, Teaching English, and Eight Graders. In teaching English vocabulary, the teacher must have suitable media to make the lesson runs smoothly. By the teacher’s making the learning media, it is recommendable to cheer up the class and student’s motivation in learning English vocabulary. Vocabulary is basic important thing in learning English. Without mastering vocabulary, the students can’t express their ideas throughout speaking and writing. Words wall media is one of visual media which can be made by the teacher easily. This media uses picture and letters on the wall for visualizing vocabulary to make students more easy remember and understand learn English vocabulary. This study the researcher uses qualitative-descriptive approach to obtain the data. In collecting the data uses observation, one on one interview, and documentation. The result of this study is the students easy to remember the vocabulary and its meaning. The use of words wall in a classroom is highly effective teaching strategy to improve literacy and add new vocabulary. Words wall activities encourage active student participation. Gestures, such as pointing to key words during a lesson, offer visual reinforcement which is very helpful for students. Words wall activities engage students while they learn key vocabulary, whether it be learning to explain a word, to compare it to other key concepts, or to spell it. The words are printed in a large font so that they are easily visible from all student seating areas. Hence, words wall media is effective media learning.
