Abstract

Keywords : Group Work, Teaching Grammar, Students’ Response Teaching grammar is not that easy because there are many formulas in composing sentences. The teacher needs to think the process of teaching learning is effective. One of which is part of cooperative learning, namely group work. Group work activity is learning that the teacher practice of putting students to effectiveness in learning together on giving opinion or idea so this strategy makes the class is not boring. This research has three research objectives. 1) It is to know how the teacher applies the Group work activity in teaching grammar. 2) To describe why the teacher applies the Group work activity in teaching grammar and 3) To describe the students’ response about Group work activity in teaching grammar to the first grade student at Vocational High School (SMK) Mabdaul Falah Talang Larangan Pamekasan. The research method that used in this research is qualitative in approach whereas research design on this research is descriptive data. The data generated from the interview, observation and the collection of documents. The data of this research were obtained from the teacher and students especially the participants are 15 students in the first grade student and the English only teacher one. The result of this research there are three procedure of group work activity are before, during and after. The teacher applies group work activity in teaching grammar because the teacher thinks that learning about grammar is bored for students so the teacher choose group work activity to make the students fun to join the class because from grouping strategy the material easy to accept for students and the class becomes active. There are many various responses and all of the response is positive response such as loving the activity, felling happy, enjoyable activity and understandable the material. Based on the research above, groping students in teaching grammar to the first grade student at Vocational High School (SMK) Mabdaul Falah Talang Larangan Pamekasan is very helpful for the teacher and the students in teaching learning process.
