Abstract

Key Terms : English Communication Skills For Tourism, English Specific Purpose For Tourism, Tourism Promotion Pamekasan is a beautiful tourist destination because of its natural beauty. This is a fantastic draw for the tourism industry in this region. Pamekasan is known for its pristine culture, which exemplifies the city's tourism appeal. This city's tourist destination are capable of attracting out-of-town tourists. The city's weakness is in promoting existing tourism destination to international visitors. This is a concern that must be tackled. The first step in introducing tourist destination, whether in person or in writing, is to use promotions that use English communication. Based on this, there are three problems that are the main studies in this study,it is: first what is the importance of English communication skills to promote tourism destination, second how is the English communication skills of tourism guide in promoting Pamekasan tourism destination, and third what are the Youth, Sport and Tourism Department English programes to promote tourism destination in Pamekasan. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. Sources of data obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The information is Staff of Dinas Pariwisata Pamekasan, Head of ASPRIM, Head of POKDARWIS Talang Siring Pamekasan, Tour guides, and members of Kacong Cebbhing Pamekasan. Meanwhile, checking the validity of the data is done through triangulation. The result of this research are : First, Communication skills in an intercultural context are an important requirement for people working in the tourism industry. In such a context, the role of English has become increasingly necessary since it is recognized as a global language that is commonly used as a means of communication by native and non-native English speakers around the world. This importance like as promotion language, negotiation, and transaction with tourist, to unify tourism workers and visitors from around the world, and to attract foreign tourists come to pamekasan. Second, English communication skills of tour guides to promote tourism destination in Pamekasan use two ways. They are direct and indirect promotion skills. They direct promotion skills is good by using persuasive, verbal and non-verbal, and detail communication language. The indirect promotion skill is using social media like Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube. Third, The Youth, Sport and Tourism Department English programes to promote tourism destination in Pamekasan are obtained in several ways, likes take advantage of the Kacong Cebbhing selection program, participate in English language training program for tourist guides, and join the tour guide community.
