Abstract

Keywords: English vocabulary, flashcard media Flashcard media is a set of principles about the goals, how the roles of teacher and students, and the interaction in the class. Vocabulary is a collection of words owned by a language and gives meaning when we use that language. The habitual action and it has relation with the flashcard media that should be not only done in the class, but also in all parts of students’ life during the class. By this approach the SMP Islam Al Ihsan would be talkative to share all their lesson problems. This implementation shows how students vocabulary as the primer tool in expressing all ideas, could create ideal role model for students in class. Thus, the objective of this research is to know the implementation, advantages and disadvantages of flashcard in English vocabulary at SMP Islam Al Ihsan academic year 2022/2023. The qualitative research was applied in the wirend study. The purpose was to investigate the use of flashcard in teaching and learning vocabulary. The subjects of this research were teacher and students at SMP Islam Al Ihsan academic year 2022/2023. The research instruments of this research were observation, interview and documentation. The validities of data was technical triangulation. The findings of the research were, the implementation of flashcard toward students’ vocabulary at SMP Islam Al Ihsan. And the the advantages and disadnvantages of flashcard in teaching vocabulary. Based on the results of observation, interviews and documentation conducted in this study, the factors causing student to learn English as a foreign language were because English was difficult so they are afraid to communicate in class, fear of making mistakes and being ridiculed by peers, in addition, the ways they used to overcome anxiety were silence, gathering with their friends who know English better and make preparation before learning English in class. The result of the research can be concluded that flashcard media applied at SMP Islam Al Ihsan as the good atmosphere for vocabulary skill was effective to do, because vocabulary was the knowledge of meaning of words we know and we learn, a vocabulary serves as a useful and fundamental tool for communication and acquiring knowledge
