Abstract
Keyword: Students’ Writing Skill, Descriptive Text, Chain Writing Method Chain writing method is one of a method that used in teaching writing in English lesson. The use of this method can help teacher in students at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Batumarmar. In addition, the students’ become easier in writing descriptive text because students’ works with their groups, students’ also become easier to find an idea in writing because there is an idea from other friends in group. It is different from lecture method which force the students’ understanding without there is an action namely writing. This subject is a students’ at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Batumarmar which consist of 22 students. There are two research focus in this research, first how does the researcher teach descriptive text through chain writing method at seventh grade SMP Negeri 1 Batumarmar, second is how can chain writing method enhance the students’ writing skill in writing descriptive text at seventh grade of SMP Negeri 1 Batumarmar. This research, the researcher use quantitative and qualitative approach which kind of this research is classroom action research. Quantitative data taken from test and qualitative data taken from observation sheet. The researcher uses three instrument in submit the data; test, observation, and documentation. To analyse data the researcher uses rating test that adapted by Sukirman. The finding research that founded by researcher is first; the students’ skill become enhancement through chain writing method, second; students more excited and active in English lesson and there is a positive in the class. Based on case above, this case recommended for teacher to use chain writing method in teaching the students’ writing of English lesson. This method is the suitable method to students become easier in understanding the material and students become active in the class. Chain writing method is similar with a game in the application so that the students not feel boring with the English lesson especially descriptive text
