Abstract

Keywords: Tolerance Values, Dangerous Album, Alwi Shihab’s Perspective Tolerance is an attitude that is needed by people how to live in peace and love in the society which is different in culture, religion, society economy and soon. Tolerance values are important in all aspects of life. So, tolerance values have three criteria for creating religious tolerance, among others: recognizing the values of religious tolerance. First, there is active participation in maintaining distinctions in a way that is constructive, useful, and leads to welfare and virtue. Second, it does not claim sole ownership of truth, implying that other religions are taught the truth, such as love, honesty, and so on, or profound and universal truth. Finally, There is a value placed on tolerance and mutual respect. Regarding the tolerance value, the researcher analyzed "Dangerous" album of Michael Jackson using Alwi Shihab's perspective. Alwi Shihab classifies the value of tolerance into 2 types, where the 2 types are still divided again, namely The first is Religious tolerance between groups within a particular religion: Religious extremism and Absolutism in religion, The second is Religious tolerance between followers of different religions: Build a foundation for inter-religious dialogue and Islamic da'wah in the midst of religious plurality. The researcher uses a qualitative approach with content analysis as the type of research. The main source used by the researcher is the Dangerous Album of Michael Jackson including the songs Heal the world, Gone too soon, and Keep it faith to get the data. To collect data, researchers used observation and documentation. Recognition and organization, coding and subtraction, and interpreting and describing data. From the analysis of this study, the researcher found tolerance values appear in Dangerous album including, in "Heal the world" there are 7 tolerance values, in "Gone Too Soon" there are 2 tolerance values and in "Keep It Faith" there are 6 tolerance values . Some types of tolerance values found in Dangerous album include, in religious extremism there are 11 data, in build a foundation for inter�religious dialogue there are 12 data, and the last in Islamic da'wah in the midst of religious plurality there are 9 data. With this analysis research, it gives an appreciation of the tolerance value that exists in the Dangerous album of Michael Jackson which can be used in aspects of daily life or aspects of education.
