Abstract

Keywords: Reading Comprehension, Dialogue Text, Students Difficulties Reading is one of the four language skills that should be mastered well by the students besides other skill such as writing, speaking, and listening. Reading can improve students’ ability to add the knowledge. Reading a book, journal, newspaper, magazine or article make students know everything that they want to know. Students will get information from various sources that are important to increase their knowledge and understand something. In reading comprehension, students should know about topic, main idea, and supporting details in reading that can make students understand the text. Students have to identify the topic, main idea and supporting details. It can help them easily to get the information in the text. Reading comprehension is needed by the students as the readers, because the goal of reading is comprehension. Through comprehension, the readers are not only read the words, but also should add their experiences and background knowledge, since a good readers needs to think before, during and after reading. Based on this, there are three main problems that are the main study in this study, namely: firstly what are the students’ difficulties in understanding reading English texts, secondly what are the factors of students' difficulties in reading English text comprehension at first grade a of MTs Al-Amien Tegal Prenduan, thirdly how do the students solve the difficulties in understanding reading English text. The researcher have been interviewing ten students namely Refan Nur Fadli, Radit Tia Hidayat, Robit Fuadi, Zaka Andreyansah, Rocan Hibbani, Abd. Rahman, Moh. Abdan Febri, Lutfan Faidil Habib,’ Ach. Faris Sundusi, Adyan Kholif. The researcher uses qualitative approach with analysis as its kind of research. The primary source used is analysis the students to find out the data needed. While the secondary source, it refers to books and journals that deals with students difficulties in reading comprehension dialogue text. To collect the data, the researcher uses interview and documentation. The results of this study indicate that, there are several difficulties experienced by students when reading and understanding the contents of English texts, including students who do not know the meaning of the dialogue texts read, students do not have the courage to read English texts, students are lazy in reading English texts. To solve these difficulties students can use several methods such as creating discussion groups, practicing again after reading an English text, looking for unknown vocabulary.
