Abstract

Keywords: Teachers Pedagogic Competence One of the competencies of a teacher is pedagogic competence is the ability of a teacher to manage the teaching and learning process in the classroom so that it runs well in accordance with the pedagogic competency indicators. According to the explanation of the principal at SMPN 5 Mandangin Island Sampang that, English teachers at SMPN 5 Mandangin Island Sampang already have good pedagogic competence in preparing lesson plans according to the school curriculum, planning from home to school with lost of preparing, good teaching and learning at school class using media. These things are the pedagogical competence itself. however, the researcher wants to analyze what is meant both in these pedagogic competencies. There are two research focuses in this research. First, how do English teachers learn to teach in the classroom. Second, do the teacher have the pedagogic competence to describe the Mandangin Island village at SMPN 5 Sampang. This study aims to analyze the Pedagogic Competence of Rural English Teachers on Mandangin Island at SMPN 5 Sampang. Researchers used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Researchers obtained data from documentation, observation, and interviews. The informant of this study was a school English teacher at SMPN 5 Mandangin Island Sampang. Based on the results of the research, English teachers are able to have pedagogical competence in the teaching and learning process, preparing a lesson plans and preparing learning materials property passed on to the learning objective. For there on, an English teacher also determine English learning goals for SMP/MTs, and also develop indicators and assessment instrument and out good active teaching learning in process. In conclusion, English rural school teachers at SMPN 5 Mandangin Island have some good pedagogic competencies. But, they need to improve their competence in design a more active teaching and learning process
