Abstract
Keyword: Show and Tell Method, Speaking Skill Particularly in Islamic boarding schools, holistic development in the context of education including language proficiency is important. Not only does academic success depend on verbal communication proficiency, but meaningful social engagement and constructive contributions to society also require it. On the other hand, there are instances where students frequently struggle with improving their speaking abilities. Limited time to practice and awareness from the teacher about that condition become the problem in boarding school because the students had busy activity. In this case the researcher found that the teacher implement show and tell method in teaching students’ speaking skill.There are two problem in this study. The first, how does the teacher implement show and tell method in teaching students’ speaking skill at intermediate level of Syekh Abdurrahman Rabah Islamic Boarding School at Pademawu, Pamekasan. The second the advantages and disadvantages of show and tell method in teaching students’ speaking skill at Pademawu, Pamekasan. In this study researcher used a qualitative approach, while this type of research use descriptive research because this study describes information about show and tell method in teaching students’ speaking skill. While the steps of analysis of data used by researcher are identifying the data, classifying the data, analyzing the data, data reduction and the last drawing the data. For finding the data validity the researcher use source triangulation and time triangulation. In the research findings. Researcher found that teacher implement show and tell method use items which the students must bring the things accordance to the theme, in this method there are several advantages and disadvantages, the advantages of this method are Students become more confidence, Students feel challenged, learning activities become more interesting, improve students’ critical thinking skill, learn to be good listener, and the disadvantages of this method are there are still those who lack in confidence, this method need much time, and this method need more preparation before come on stage. Based on the research above, in teaching process has advantages and disadvantages, hopefully the teachers more creative in order for the teachers to be engaged in the classroom and next researchers can serve a source of information in upcoming research reference meanwhile the readers can get more information from this research.
