Abstract

Keyword: Role, Membership of HMPS TBI The English Education Study Program Student Association (HMPS TBI) is a campus organization under the auspices of the English Education Study Program. Under the guidance of the TBI program, HMPS TBI plays a crucial role in enhancing the English language learning abilities of the members. The role of HMPS TBI, within a small scope, focuses on the members. The orientation of HMPS TBI is towards developing the English language proficiency of the members, both academically and non-academically. Based on the explanation above, several research factors emerge as follows: First, what is the role of HMPS TBI in motivating the members in learning English for the 2023-2024 period? Second, what are the supporting factors of HMPS TBI in motivating the members in learning English in the 2023-2024 period? Third, what are the inhibiting factors of HMPS TBI in motivating the members in learning English in the 2023-2024 period? In this study, the researcher employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The data sources include interviews and observations. The informants consist of the Chairman of HMPS TBI, the Vice Chairman of HMPS, and also the members of HMPS TBI. This research uses a qualitative method and a descriptive type. The qualitative method and descriptive type aim to match the existing reality in the field with the applicable theory. The research results indicate that: First, the role of HMPS TBI in motivating the members in learning English includes: a) as motivator, serving as a catalyst for the development of HMPS TBI members' English learning abilities by creating a positive environment and appreciating high-achieving members; b) as educator, HMPS TBI should educate members in enhancing their English language skills by organizing beneficial activities oriented towards English language learning; c) as a facilitator, providing good facilities and serving as a channel for addressing existing issues by providing office space and necessary equipment. Second, the supporting factors of HMPS TBI in motivating members in learning English include: a) having clear and structured SOPs, which serve as a guideline for HMPS TBI in performing its role towards the members; b) having adequate facilities. Third, the inhibiting factors of HMPS TBI in motivating members in learning English include members who cannot master of English vocabulary accurately.
