Abstract

Literature is thinking process or as product of human creativity of art, like novel. Novel is one branch of literature created. By reading novel the reader is able to get knowledge and experience about the content of the novel. The researcher chooses novel of “Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck” by Buya Hamka. Firstly, the researcher thinks that this novel is very unique and interesting novel than others. Because the writer of this novel (Buya Hamka) is a critic of Indonesian literature and Buya Hamka has good intention to criticize some traditions that have done by society at the time, especially about “Forced marriage”. And since this novel was published it has continued to experience reprinting until now and has become mendatory reading material for school students in Indonesia and Malaysia. Secondly, because this novel reflects the person’s real life and this is really happening in a long time ago. Thirdly, the researcher will know more about the perspective literature. So, the researcher will know about the element of the novel ( intrinsic and extrinsic element ) and Islamic ethics of the novel. Fourth, the researcher thinks that by studying the Islamic ethics or moral values in the novel is a very important thing and it is relevant with the attitude and how to be a good people or educates people in this era. Based on the explanation above, there are 2 research focus of this research, they are: What is the elements of Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck? and What are the Islamic ethics on Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck ? This research is acquired by using objective approach in literary work. Because in this case, the researcher focuses on the object of this research is the elements and Islamic ethics from the novel of Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck. Then this study uses descriptive analysis method, is used to describe the result of the data. While the kind of this research is library research that the researcher will choose intrinsic and extrinsic elements and also the Islamic ethics from the novel. The result of this research shows that elements of the novel (intrinsic and extrinsic elements) and Islamic ethics that concern with the content of the novel and appear from the characters' attitudes, the dialogue and the characters' thoughts. From this research, it is suggested to the readers of the novel to understand the elements and Islamic ethics. So, they are able to learn and adopt that elements and Islamic ethics in their life. Besides that, it is also suggested for the next researcher to analyze this novel from the other aspects, such as: moral value, social value and others element. Otherwise, the next researcher is able to analyze the element and Islamic ethics in this novel by using the other perspective. So, the readers will know the other elements and Islamic ethics from different perspective. Sastra adalah proses berpikir atau hasil karya manusia dalam bidang seni, contoh novel. Novel adalah salah satu karya sastra. Dengan membaca novel pembaca bisa mendapatkan pengetahuan dan pengalaman terhadap isi kandungan dalam novel tersebut. Peneliti memilih novel “Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck” karangan Buya Hamka. Pertama, menurut peneliti novel ini sangat unik dan menarik dibanding novel lainnya. Karena penulis novel ini (Buya Hamka) adalah seorang kritikus sastra Indonesia dan Buya Hamka memiliki niat baik untuk mengkritisi beberapa tradisi yang dilakukan masyarakat saat itu, khususnya tentang “Nikah Paksa”. Dan sejak novel ini diterbitkan terus mengalami reprinting hingga sekarang dan menjadi bahan bacaan pendidik bagi siswa sekolah di Indonesia dan Malaysia. Kedua, karena novel ini mencerminkan kehidupan nyata orang-orang dan ini benar-benar terjadi di masa lalu. Ketiga, peneliti akan mengetahui lebih banyak tentang perspektif sastra dalam novel ini, sehingga peneliti mengetahui tentang unsur novel (unsur intrinsik dan ekstrinsik) dan etika Islam dari novel tersebut. Keempat, menurut peneliti mengkaji etika Islam atau nilai-nilai moral dalam novel adalah hal yang sangat penting dan relevan dengan sikap dan bagaimana menjadi orang yang baik atau mendidik orang di era ini. Berdasarkan penjelasan di atas, ada 2 fokus penelitian di penelitian ini. Mereka adalah Apa unsur-unsur Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck? dan Apa etika Islam di Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck? Penelitian ini diperoleh dari penggunaan pendekatan objektif dalam karya sastra. Karena dalam hal ini, peneliti fokus kepada objek penelitian yaitu unsurunsur dan etika Islam dari novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck. Kemudian pembelajaran ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis, yang digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan hasil data. Selain dari itu jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pustaka yang akan peneliti pilih yaitu unsur-unsur intrinsik dan ekstrinsik dan juga etika Islam dari novel ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa unsur-unsur novel (unsur intrinsic dan unsur ekstrinsik) dan etika Islam yang berkaitan dengan isi novel muncul dari sikap tokoh, dialog dan pemikiran tokoh. Dari hasil penelitian ini diharapkan pembaca novel memahami unsur-unsur dan etika Islam. Sehingga mereka mampu mempelajari dan mengadopsi unsurunsur tersebut dan etika Islam dalam kehidupan mereka. Selain itu, peneliti selanjutnya disarankan untuk menganalisis novel ini dari segi-segi lain, seperti: nilai moral, nilai sosial dan unsur lain. Selain itu, peneliti selanjutnya mampu menganalisis unsur dan etika Islam dalam novel ini dengan menggunakan perspektif lain. Sehingga pembaca akan mengetahui unsur lain dan etika Islam dari sudut pandang yang berbeda.
