Abstract

Key Words: Difficulties in reading Comprehension, and Narrative Text Reading has been found to be one of the hard skill to achieve for many English student, especially students of SMKN 3 Pamekasan. Based on the researcher's preliminary research, it was determined that some of tenth grade students SMKN 3 Pamekasan, narative text are classified as a difficult to learning. In this research has research objective that to describe the difficulties faced by the tenth graders in comprehending narrative text and describe how the teacher solves the tenth graders‟ difficulties in comprehending narrative text. This study was a descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this research was the tenth grade students of Vocational High Schoolwhile the object of this research was students‟ difficulties in reading narrative text.To collect the data, the researcher used interview as a main data, observation and documentation. The result of this research, show that, the difficulties in comprehending narative text faced by tenth graders at SMKN 3 Pamekasan are,lack of vocabulary knowledge, infromasion processing issuse, and poor verbal reasoning. And the teacher solve the difficulties in comprehending in this research are use previewing and predicting. Based on above, the difficulties in comprehending narative text faced by tenth graders at SMKN 3 Pamekasan are the students get difficult and teacher give solve for the students that has difficult in learning narative text.
