Abstract

Key word: Podcast, Spotify, Listening. Listening plays an important role in communication. Listening also has great importance in foreign language classroom. In the language learning process, listening provides input for students. If students cannot understand the input, the learning process cannot begin. The use of podcasts is beneficial for both teachers and students. A podcast is helpful for students because it gives them access to current events and native speakers who may help them improve their listening. the researchers proposes Spotify podcast as a solution that can be used to improve students'' listening skill. This research used true experimental design, pre-test – post test control group design. There were two groups in experimental research, experimental group and control group. This study used jenuh sampling and took all thepopultions as the sample . Both experimental and control group consist 46 of eleventh grade students at SMAS Sabilillah Sampang. The control class consist 23 students and the experimental class consist 23 students. The result of T-test showed that significant value (sig-2 tailed) is 0,001, and it i s lower than 0.05 (0.001 0.05). And t-test value is 3.823 t-table 2.015. So in the independent sample t test, it shows that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Hɑ) for this research is “There is a significant score in listening skill before and after being taught by using Podcast in Narrative text at the tenth grade of SMAS Sabilillah Sampang” is accepted, while the null hypothesis (H0) here is “There is no significant difference score in listening skill before and after being taught by using Podcast in Narrative text at the tenth grade of SMAS Sabilillah Sampang” is rejected.The result of this study found that teaching listening comprehension by using Podcast is effective at the eleventh grade students of SMAS Sabilillah Sampang.
