Abstract
Keywords:techniques, teaching pronunciation, Teaching pronunciation is an improtant thing that must be present in teaching foreign languages especially English. For Madurese students, learning how to pronounce is very recommended by practicing how to pronounce and speak English. Pronunciation is an integral part of foreign languge especially in teaching process where in the classroom there are usually many students and lecturers will definitely interact in lessons using English. There are two research problems focuses on this research. The first is whether the techniques of teaching pronunciation used by lecturer for 2nd semester students of English Department at IAIN Madura. The second is whether the strengths and the weaknesses of the techniques in teaching pronunciation used by lecturer in 2nd semester students of English Department at IAIN Madura. In this research, the researcher uses qualitative as an approach of this research. The researcher uses three instruments in collecting the data; observation, interview, and documentation. For analyzing the data, the researcher uses data condensation, data display, and verifying conclusion. Then the researcher uses triangulation of data source in checking the validity of data. The results of this research found by the researcher are: the first, there are five techniques of teaching pronunciation used by English lecturer in pronunciation class during teaching learning process, namely reading activities which 71 data, listening activities which 58 data, drilling which 50 data, song which 54 data and conversation which 45 data. All of the techniques used by English lecturer have benefits both for students and even for the lecturer. Based on the result above, it is suggested that for the students use the types of teachniques of teaching pronunciation used by lecturer so the students can apply the techniques at home. It is recommended for English lecturer and English student for apply the teachniques to learn about pronunciation
