Abstract
Key words: students attitude, learning English At the eight class of Junior High School of Mambaul Ulum Tebul Timur Pegantenan Pamekasan showed that the teaching English result is not maximal, whether from process or teaching result aspect. From the teaching process aspect, the teaching English activity cannot raise students motivation and interest. Majority of students motivation and interest is very low, such as they are not enthusiastic in learning, they do not have will to ask, and they are lazy in doing the tasks. So majority of students behave passive in teaching Englih activity. On teaching result aspect, majority of students do not achieve mastery learning yet because the score that they got is under the mastery learning score which has been determined by English teacher that is 70. To overcome the problem mentioned, the English teacher makes some efforts to repair students learning English result. One effort is made by English teacher for the eighth grade students is repairing students attitude when learning Emglish. The problems in this research are (1) how students attitude in learning English at the eight class of Junior High School of Mambaul Ulum Tebul Timur Pegantenan Pamekasan? and (2) what are the attitude types used of students in learning English at the eight class of Junior High School of Mambaul Ulum Tebul Timur Pegantenan Pamekasan? This research uses qualitative approach. Data sources of this research are English teacher and the students of the eight class of Junior High School of Mambaul Ulum Tebul Timur Pegantenan Pamekasan. Procedures of data collection are observation, interview, and documentation. Data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis. Checking the validity of finding uses the sources triangulation and technique triangulation. The research result shows that (1) students attitude in learning English at the eight class of Junior High School of Mambaul Ulum Tebul Timur Pegantenan Pamekasan includes fear, lazy (negative attitudes), persistent, enthusiastic (positive attitudes), and (2) the attitude type used of the students in learning English at the eight class of Junior High School of Mambaul Ulum Tebul Timur Pegantenan Pamekasan are the positif or favorable attitude such as descipline, self-confident, persistent, and enthusiastic (positive attitudes).
