Abstract

Keywords: Media, Newspaper, and Writing Media is a tool that can help the teacher and the students to make the teaching and learning process and more alive and affective. It in involves the environment around the class. In other word media is a tool to communicate between teacher and students. It means that everything make student easy to get their knowledge it can be media, such as the text books, paper, power point, newspaper, etc. Newspaper is a periodical publication containing written information about current event. The teacher use visual media in teaching English because the teacher uses newspaper as media on students writing ability at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 8 Pamekasan. The problems of study, they are three points. The first is how How the teachers use newspaper as media on student’s writing ability. The second What are the obstacles faces by teachers use newspaper as media on student’s writing ability, and the third How the teachers overcome the obstacles face by using newspaper as media on student’s writing ability? The objectives of this research there are two points. The first is to know how the teachers use newspaper as media on student’s writing ability. The second is to know the obstacles face by the teachers use newspaper as media on student’s writing ability. And the last To know how the teachers overcome the obstacles face by using newspaper as media on student’s writing ability at the Eighth Grade of SMP Negeri 8 Pamekasan. The researcher use qualitative research as approach of research and descriptive as kind of research. Sources of data is English teacher in students eight grade at E class and the students in this class. In collect the data, the researcher use research procedures are observation, interview and documentation, and then the researcher analyze with reduction, display and verification. In addition, to get the validity of data the researcher uses source triangulation. The result of this research states that the teachers faced some obstacles during the Using Newspaper as Media on Student’s Writing Ability. But in this case the teacher has solutions to overcome the obstacles in teaching learning process. The solutions those done by the teacher to overcome the obstacles are very important to make the teaching learning process run successful. From the statement above, it is important for the English teacher to give more attention in correcting students’ written assessment, to be more aware to the students’ grammatical, and to give more motivation and spirit to their students. It is also suggested for students to be confident and believe that they can, to be more pay attention to their grammatical when write, and to apply the new vocabulary in the classroom.
