Abstract

Key words: language learning, types of speaking skills, American style debate, extracurricular program, advantages and disadvantages The phenomenon contained in the field is that many of the students have difficulty expressing opinions or appearing in conveying agree or disagree with other students. And there is no ability to process language so that the participation in the class is very difficult. That the teacher in a silent program and silent students', so the program does not go with the adjusted plan. So that the teachers use the debate method to reduce and implement in processing language use. The object of this research is the how teachers implement the simplified American style debate to teach speaking in in English extracurricular program. The second object is the advantages and disadvantages of simplified American style debate to teach speaking in English extracurricular program. To know the advantages and disadvantages which get by the teacher if implement the American style debate in English extracurricular program. So that the object under study will not pass the object that has been determined. The method used in this study is a qualitative method for data collection. Because it only has one obligation examined. So that the data collection procedure use the method of observation, interview and documentation. Observation used directly observations to the field and also using direct interviews for interviewers. And the researcher would like to be match with the previous chapter and the theory with use the triangulation. The result show that for the use of simplified American style debate to teach speaking in English extracurricular program have a teachers implement the simplified American style debate to teach speaking in in English extracurricular program and advantages and disadvantages which would have by the students', however the disadvantages here can overcome by the teacher in English extracurricular program in MA. Nurur rahmah Batu Jaran Pragaan Daya Prenduan. As the teacher success to implement the American style debate to teach speaking in English extracurricular program which have the advantages and disadvantages for the students'. So that the teacher is said to be successful and able to overcome the disadvantages that exist when implement this teaching learning process in the English extracurricular program.
