Abstract

Keywords : Teaching Methods, Difficulties of students. A method is a whole plan in presenting the material with the teaching applied by the teacher because a method is a systematic plan in presenting the material that must be in line with the underlying approach. Teaching methods describe the approach, design, and procedure. The approach, as previously explained, is something related to a theory about mathods teaching English. In conjunction with design, English language learning can be observed from the objectives, syllabus model, type of teaching and teaching activity, the role of the student, the role of the teacher, and learning can also be observed from the techniques or activities implemented when the method is used. There are three objectives of this study. First to identify what English teaching methods are given by the teacher in teaching English to students, secondly to find out how to apply the English teaching method used by the teacher, and third to find out how students respond to applying the results of the English teaching method by the English teacher of Darut Tauhid AL-Maliky Sampang High School. The results of this study are : 1) The methods used in this study were grammar translation and total physical response. 2) Researcher found that the difficulties experienced by the subjects of the case when students were unable to reach English learning. 3) Data was collected through the practice of dialogue using English, referring to the results of the study. 4) The use of teaching methods that had been prepared for competence by the teacher contributed positively to the performance of students in the process of teaching English even though it was classified as a few students who did not reach it. Using the grammar translation teaching method and total physical response to students had succeeded in increasing their interest in teaching English. Therefore, the researcher suggests that the English teacher used this method if there is a similar case and it is necessary to know that the teacher can control and encourage students to help them in teaching
