Abstract

Keywords: Usage, Viral Song, Listening Learning A song is a work of art that combines sound and language which is usually accompanied by musical instruments. Generally songs contain problems in human life or expressions of someone's heart. In this way, students will be more interested in lessons that are related or related to their lives. There are two research focuses that are the main study in this research, namely: First, how teachers use viral songs in listening lessons in class X MA Nurul Islam Pungging Mojokerto. Second, what are the advantages and disadvantages of using viral songs in listening lessons in class X MA Nurul Islam Pungging Mojokerto. This research is qualitative research and the type of research is descriptive. Data collection was carried out by interviews, observation and documentation. data analysis by carrying out data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The data obtained was checked for validity using triangulation. The results of the research show the first, the use of viral English songs in teaching listening skills in the tenth grade at MA Nurul Islam Pungging Mojokerto. Researchers found several findings, including the following: a). The teacher plays the song several times and the students are asked to listen first.b). Students are asked to fill in the blank lyrics with the correct words according to what they hear.c). Then the teacher asks several students to come forward to read the answers. In this way, students will try to listen to the lyrics well and improve their listening skills, besides that they can also add new vocabulary. Second, the advantages and disadvantages of using viral English songs in teaching listening skills in the tenth grade at MA Nurul Islam Pungging Mojokerto are as follows:a). The advantage is that students become more interested and less bored in class. Because sometimes the teacher also invites them to sing together when the students start to get bored. b). The advantages the use of viral song does not add to the increase in new vocabulary for students, because most of them are already familiar with the vocabulary because they often hear the song.
