Abstract

Keywords: Perception, Vlog, Speaking Ability. Perception itself is each person's personal opinion or thoughts, which means that everyone has different thoughts. Students' perceptions are needed so that teachers or lecturers understand what students need and what students have difficulties with when working on the assignments given by them. One that cannot be separated from the use of technology is the teaching and learning process. Many lecturers from courses have assignment to their students to make videos and then upload them on social media, the example of the platforms that is YouTube. This research has the research focus, that is “How do the students’ perception of vlog-based assignment toward student speaking ability at students of English teaching learning program IAIN Madura 2023-2024 academic year?” and “What are the difficulties in completing vlog assignments toward students’ speaking ability at students of English teaching learning program IAIN Madura 2023-2024 academic year?” and “How do the students’ solve the difficulties in completing vlog assignments toward students’ speaking ability at students of English teaching learning program IAIN Madura 2023-2024 academic year?”. To know the result of this research, the researcher has formulated a research focus into the discussion. The subject of this research is the students’ of IAIN Madura. The researcher used qualitative research, namely the descriptive case study. The researcher collected data through interview, observations, and documentation procedures. The researcher analyzed the data by using descriptive because the research will describe the student perception on vlog-based assignment (video blog) toward students’ speaking ability at students of English teaching learning program IAIN Madura. The result of the research is positive and negative perception. Positive perception show how the view the vlog assignment which has a positive impact on them. Negative perception show how they view vlog assignment that are not good for them. The biggest difficulties in English assignment using vlog that students’ mentioned were internet and storage. The students’ solve or solution in vlog assignment are the students’ motivaton it’s self, using free Wifi to overcome quota difficulties, watching tutorial on YouTube, TikTok, and asking lectures or friends to understanding complex features.
