Abstract

Keywords: EFL, Teaching Methods, Tutors, English Course Teaching method is one of the important role of teaching process to bring the lesson as close as possible and create a live classroom, by selecting an appropriate teaching method will be easily to get good learning result and great output of students. In teaching, teachers should use an appropriate method. Therefore, a teacher needs to have the ability to design and implement various learning method that are considered suitable with the interest and students’ talents and also suitable with level of the students. The aims of this research are to find out about the teaching methods are implemented by the tutors as well as to describe how the tutors implement the teaching methods at Better School English course of HMPS 2022. This research was designed as a descriptive qualitative research. The data were collected through, observation, interview and documentation. As for the data analysis used starts from data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. To determine the data validity, in this research used triangulation techniques, which compared the techniques of data collection and triangulation sources which to test the data credibility by checking the data obtained through some sources. The result of the research that the researcher found was the result of the teaching methods implemented by the tutors at BETTER school English course. This research identified that there were two methods the tutors implemented in the teaching process. They were Grammar Translation Method (GTM) and direct method. Grammar Translation Method (GTM) was implemented five times for five different meetings and Direct Method was employed only one time. Those teaching methods were in accordance with the particular procedure of the teaching methods. This research can improve the quality of tutors in teaching English by maximizing supporting factors. Like, using some media that supported the teaching method. So, The teaching method should be applied because this is the teacher's way of determining learning objectives during the teaching and learning process.
