Abstract
Keywords: Speed Reading, Strategies, Method Reading is one of the four skills that students must master and wonder why reading is important from time to time. There seems to be a lot of other things at one time. Reading is important for many reasons, but it is important to state that struggling with essential reading skills is not a sign of mental retardation. Speed reading is considered an important goal of reading instruction. Some students read it verbatim, so their understanding of it was poor. While reading, three types of operations occur: correcting a particular word, skipping to the next word, and returning to the word read. There are two types of research problems in this study. First, about the process of using the speed reading method in reading comprehension. Second, about how to overcome difficulties using the speed reading method in reading comprehension. This study aims to find out how the process of using the speed reading method in reading comprehension is and to find out how to overcome the difficulties using the speed reading method in reading comprehension. The researcher used a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. Researchers obtained data from observations, interviews, and documentation. The research informants were seventh grade students at MTsN Sampang. Based on the results of the study, there are several processes that are carried out by students to be able to read quickly in long texts or short texts. They use the say and look method, the skimming method, and the scanning method. As for how to overcome the difficulties of using the method, as the first one must be mastered, only look at the words and the second method is to increase the mastery of words per minute. And often reading texts using these three methods is not only done at school.
